COPE Compliance Statement
The Journal of Artificial Intelligence, Technology and Computer Sciences (JATICS) is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics and follows internationally recognized principles and best practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
The journal expects authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher to uphold integrity, transparency, accountability, confidentiality, and ethical conduct throughout the publication process.
Editorial Responsibilities
Editors are responsible for:
- Maintaining confidentiality of submitted manuscripts.
- Ensuring fair and impartial editorial decisions.
- Selecting appropriate reviewers.
- Managing conflicts of interest.
- Ensuring appropriate and timely peer review.
- Investigating allegations of research or publication misconduct.
- Taking appropriate corrective action when ethical concerns are confirmed.
- Publishing corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern where necessary.
Author Responsibilities
Authors must:
- Submit original research.
- Avoid simultaneous submission to multiple journals.
- Properly cite and acknowledge all sources.
- Report research findings honestly and accurately.
- Avoid fabrication and falsification of data.
- Avoid plagiarism and inappropriate text reuse.
- Avoid duplicate or redundant publication.
- Ensure that all listed authors made meaningful scholarly contributions.
- Obtain approval from all co-authors before submission.
- Disclose relevant financial and non-financial conflicts of interest.
- Declare sources of financial support where applicable.
- Obtain required ethical approval and participant consent where applicable.
Reviewer Responsibilities
Reviewers must:
- Evaluate manuscripts objectively and fairly.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Provide constructive and professional feedback.
- Identify relevant published research where appropriate.
- Report suspected plagiarism or other ethical concerns.
- Decline review assignments where a conflict of interest exists.
- Complete reviews within the agreed period.
- Avoid using unpublished manuscript information for personal benefit.
Publisher Responsibilities
The publisher supports editorial independence and works with the editorial team to maintain ethical publishing practices.
The publisher and journal will take reasonable steps to investigate allegations of publication misconduct and implement appropriate corrective measures when necessary.
Research Misconduct
JATICS considers the following to be serious forms of misconduct:
- Plagiarism and self-plagiarism
- Duplicate submission
- Duplicate or redundant publication
- Data fabrication
- Data falsification
- Image manipulation
- Citation manipulation
- Authorship manipulation
- Undisclosed conflicts of interest
- Misrepresentation of research findings
- Unauthorized use of copyrighted material
Confirmed misconduct may result in manuscript rejection, correction, retraction, notification of the relevant institution, or notification of funding agencies or other appropriate bodies.
Conflict of Interest
Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose financial, professional, institutional, personal, or other relationships that could reasonably influence the research, peer-review process, or editorial decision.
Editors may reassign manuscripts where a significant conflict of interest exists.
Data Integrity and Reproducibility
Authors are expected to maintain appropriate original research records and supporting data.
Where reasonable and ethically permissible, authors should make research data, software, source code, datasets, or other supporting materials available through appropriate repositories to facilitate verification and reproducibility.
Authors may be asked to provide supporting information when necessary to verify published findings.
Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern
If significant errors or ethical concerns are identified after publication, JATICS may publish:
- Corrections
- Retractions
- Expressions of Concern
- Editorial notices
The action taken will depend on the nature and seriousness of the issue and will be intended to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.
Appeals and Complaints
Authors may appeal editorial decisions by submitting a written request with appropriate supporting evidence.
Complaints concerning editorial processes, peer review, authorship, plagiarism, conflicts of interest, or publication ethics will be considered by the editorial team in accordance with applicable ethical standards.
Ethical Research
Research involving human participants, personal information, animals, or other sensitive materials must comply with applicable ethical standards and institutional requirements.
Where required, authors should provide evidence of appropriate ethical approval and informed consent.
