Plagrism Policy
Plagiarism and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Usage Policy
The Journal of Artificial Intelligence, Technology and Computer Sciences (JATICS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, ethical publishing, originality, and responsible scholarly communication. The journal recognizes that originality and research integrity are fundamental to credible scientific and technological research. JATICS therefore follows a strict policy against plagiarism, research misconduct, fabrication, falsification, unauthorized use of intellectual property, and other forms of academic dishonesty.
Plagiarism Policy
For the purposes of this policy, plagiarism refers to the use of another person's words, ideas, theories, methodologies, data, figures, tables, images, software code, or other intellectual contributions without appropriate acknowledgment or citation. This includes direct copying without quotation and referencing, inadequate paraphrasing, unauthorized use of research findings, duplication of previously published material, and self-plagiarism involving substantial reuse of an author's previously published work without appropriate disclosure or citation.
Any attempt to present another person's intellectual or scholarly contribution as one's own is considered a serious violation of publication ethics.
Similarity Threshold
The overall similarity index of a submitted manuscript should normally not exceed 10%, excluding references, properly quoted material, standard methodological descriptions, and commonly used technical terminology.
All submitted manuscripts may be screened using recognized similarity-detection tools, including Turnitin, iThenticate, or equivalent systems, before or during the peer-review process. The editorial team evaluates similarity reports carefully to distinguish legitimate scholarly overlap from inappropriate copying.
Authors are fully responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts are original, properly referenced, and free from copyright or intellectual-property violations.
Where minor similarity, citation omissions, or referencing problems are identified, authors may be requested to revise the manuscript. Manuscripts containing substantial plagiarism, data misappropriation, unauthorized reproduction of copyrighted material, fabricated content, or other serious forms of academic misconduct may be rejected.
If plagiarism or other ethical misconduct is identified after publication, JATICS may retract the article, publish a retraction or correction notice, and take other appropriate actions to protect the integrity of the scholarly record. In serious or repeated cases, the journal may restrict future submissions and notify the author's institution, funding body, or relevant professional organization where appropriate.
As part of the submission process, authors must confirm that:
- The manuscript is original.
- The manuscript has not been published previously.
- The manuscript is not under consideration by another journal.
- All sources have been appropriately acknowledged and cited.
- All listed authors have made meaningful scholarly contributions.
- All authors have approved the final manuscript.
- All authors have agreed to its submission to JATICS.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Usage Policy
JATICS recognizes the increasing use of artificial intelligence technologies in academic research, writing assistance, programming, data analysis, language editing, and scholarly productivity.
Authors may use AI-assisted tools such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Grammarly, or comparable technologies for appropriate purposes including language improvement, proofreading, coding assistance, brainstorming, translation, formatting, or technical support.
However, the human authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, interpretation, and scholarly quality of the submitted manuscript.
AI tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot accept responsibility for the manuscript, disclose conflicts of interest, provide consent, or meet established authorship requirements.
Manuscripts must contain meaningful human intellectual contribution, including original scientific reasoning, critical analysis, interpretation of findings, and academic judgment.
Restricted Core Sections
AI-generated content should not replace the authors' original intellectual contribution, particularly in the following core sections:
- Abstract
- Methodology
- Results
- Discussion
- Conclusion
Authors must independently verify all AI-assisted content, including facts, references, technical information, mathematical expressions, code, data interpretations, and citations.
AI Disclosure
Where AI tools have been used substantially in preparing a manuscript, authors should transparently disclose such use in an appropriate acknowledgment or AI-use disclosure statement.
AI tools must not be used to fabricate references, generate false research data, manipulate results, create misleading evidence, or misrepresent AI-generated material as original human scholarship.
Failure to disclose substantial AI involvement, or submission of fabricated, misleading, or improperly generated AI content, may result in rejection, retraction, or other editorial action.
Appeals
Authors who believe that a plagiarism determination or AI-related editorial decision has been made incorrectly may submit a formal appeal to the editorial office. Appeals will be considered objectively by the Editorial Board based on supporting evidence, established publication-ethics principles, and academic fairness.
Through this policy, the Journal of Artificial Intelligence, Technology and Computer Sciences (JATICS) reaffirms its commitment to originality, academic integrity, responsible use of emerging technologies, protection of intellectual property, and publication of reliable and high-quality research.
